The team player list of 15th All Star organization which will take place on 22 January Sunday in Trabzon was announced today in a press conference. Anadolu Efes' coach Ufuk Sarıca and Cenk Akyol participated at the conference and according to the announced team players list, four Anadolu Efes players were selected for All Star 2012 Organisation.
After the count of votes of basketball fans, Sinan Güler and Cenk Akyol will play in the Turkish Stars team in this year’s All Star game while Sasha Vujacic and Dusko Savanovic will play in the Foreigner Stars Team and thus four Anadolu Efes players will be playing in the game.
The coach of Turkish Stars Team will be Anadolu Efes’ successful coach Ufuk Sarıca and Ekrem Memnun will assist him.
In All Star ceremony, Doğuş Balbay will compete in slam dunk competition while Sash Vujacic will compete in triples competition.
After the team player lists have been announced, the coach of Turkish Starts Team Ufuk Sarıca said: “Beko All-Star is an organisation that is held every year and now is a traditional organisation. This year Trabzon will host the event. Trabzon is a very beautiful team and they have a new hall. This is very positive for the Turkish basketball. I believe that basketball fans of Trabzon will support the organisation. Besides I invite everyone to this organisation. I would like to thank all who have contributed to the event. As a team we did not have an opportunity to train together but we have a very good team. I have a team that can make the game enjoyable for the fans. But after all it will be nice to win the game”.
Our successful player who will play in the Turkish Stars team Cenk Akyol said “I believe that it wil be a colourful weekend. I think that basketball fans of Trabzon will enjoy the game at Hayri Gür Sports Hall”.
The organisation which started in 1990 and in 1996 the 7th organisation was held and the event stopped for 9 years and Efes players dominated the event... In all All Star organisations until today 55 Anadolu Efes players took part.
One of our previous players Glynn Blackwell was the first All Star MVP; in the 2nd and 3rd All Star organisations Altar Tunçkol had the “Triple Champion” for twice consecutively. In the 5th All Star, Larry Richard was awarded the most valuable player. In the 6th All Star organisation M. Kemal Bitim was the first slam dunk champion for Anadolu Efes; one year later, Efes enjoyed double joy with Hüseyin Beşok was the “MVP” and Petar Naumoski was the “Triple Champion”. In Beko All Star 2010, which was organised two years ago, Sinan Güler won the slam dunk title; Kaya Peker was the MVP of Turkish-Foreigner Stars game.
Tamer Oyguç, who was one of the most important players of Anadolu Efes history, took part for seven times in this fabulous organisation.
Besides the Anadolu Efes players, former coach of Efes, Aydın Örs took part four times consecutively (1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96), Oktay Mahmuti twice consecutively (2004-05, 2005-06) and David Blatt once (2007-08) as a coach in All Star organisation.
