In the semi-final game of Spor Toto Turkish Cup in Konya Anadolu Efes lost to Banvit by 76-67 and was eliminated from Spor Toto Turkish Cup. Banvit was also leading at halftime at Selçuklu Municipality Sport Hall by 35-34.
The starting five of Efes were Lafayette, Sinan, Cenk, Savanovic and Batista and Savanovic scored the first points in a triple for Efes. Following the points Lafayette and Cenk scored in minute four, Efes was leading by 9-4; Barac joined the game and following the points Sinan and Barac added, Efes was leading in the last three minutes of the quarter by 13-10. Following these points, Doğuş and Vujacic scored five points, Efes was leading in the last minute of the quarter by 17-14. In the remaining 60 seconds, the opponent scored four points and Anadolu Efes ended the first quarter on the losing side by 18-17.
Vujacic and Cenk opened the second period; in minute 14, the score was 22-26 and the coach Ufuk Sarıca called a timeout. Following the timeout, Lafayette scored the 24th point for Efes; Cenk added a triple, taking the score to 27-30 and he was the first Efes player to score double-digit points. Following Barac’s elegant slam dunk, Efes dropped the difference to one point, in the last two minutes of the first half, Lafayette’s triple equalised the score: 32-32. In the remaining time, Barac scored under the board, and Anadolu Efes was on the losing side at halftime by 35-34.
In the second half, Cenk scored in the first offense of Efes, placing the team in the lead : 36-35. Following Lafayette’s triple in 22.30, the score was equal at 39-39; Sinan answered to the triple of the opponent and Efes was leading once again: 42-41. Anadolu Efes in minute 25 was on the losing side by 47-42; Barac dropped the difference to three points in the last 4.30 minutes of the quarter: 44-47. Efes’ young player Gökhan joined the game and added a triple in minute 26, Efes scored the 47th point, and Sinan added two triples consecutively, dropping the difference to two points and Anadolu Efes ended the third quarter on the losing side by 55-53.
In the final period, Gökhan added a triple in Efes first points, taking the score to 56-57 and Sinan snatched the ball and scored in a slam dunk, and Anadolu Efes was leading in minute 31: 58-57. Following these points, Banvit called a timeout; in minute 32, the score was 58-62 and Ufuk Sarıca called a timeout. Following the timeout, in minute 33 the score was 58-65; in Anadolu Efes’ offense, the opponent committed a foul against Lafayette and Lafayette scored a point in free throws, dropping the difference to six points: 59-67. In the last 3.45 minutes of the game, Efes was on the losing side by 68-59 and Cenk and Barac scored for Efes but Efes could not close the gap and lost the game by 76-67 and was eliminated from Spor toto Turkish Cup in the semi-final.
